This funding made it possible to implement programming on campus that focused on the foundational principles of a free society. Through exclusive lecture series and student-led reading groups, students have the opportunity to better understand and to participate in conversations about democratic government, free-market economic systems, and strong socio-cultural institutions. These three principles are at the core of programming funded by the Moorman Foundation.

Programming is executed by HLGU鈥檚 Moorman Professor, Mr. Scott Hall. 鈥淭he funding from the Moorman Foundation allows us to promote free society concepts to the student body and community at large,鈥 said Hall. 鈥淚n our own small way, we鈥檙e trying to educate the population so they can make decisions that will help them prosper鈥攖hat鈥檚 the whole point鈥攖o educate about free society and show people effective pathways to prosperity.鈥

With the grant renewal, HLGU will have the resources to continue to promote the importance of free market principles in business and society.

HLGU Receives Moorman Professorship Grant /hlgu-receives-moorman-professorship-grant/ /hlgu-receives-moorman-professorship-grant/#respond Fri, 03 May 2019 17:52:15 +0000 http://hlg.frankandmaven.com/?p=7502 After receiving a grant from the Moorman Foundation in the amount of $339,000 to establish a Moorman Professorship, HLGU announced in a recent awards ceremony that Mr. Scott Hall, business department chair and assistant professor of business, has been named the Moorman Professor and will execute the grant programming to expand HLGU鈥檚 academic and civic engagement on the importance of free market principles in business and society.

鈥淔ree market solutions to social and economic problems are topics that we鈥檝e been developing for several years,鈥 said Hall. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited and blessed to work with the Moorman Foundation to promote these concepts both in the classroom and in the community.鈥

鈥淢r. Hall is the perfect selection to be the first Moorman Professor her at HLGU,鈥 said Dr. Miles Mullin, vice president for academic administration and dean of faculty. 鈥淚t is a natural fit as he is already deeply committed to the economic, ethical, and legal principles of a free society and is actively involved in several groups that promote liberty, free markets, and strong personal character. Beyond that, he is a knowledgeable and engaging classroom instructor, working hard to shape the next generation of students who believe that people flourish best when they are given the most freedom.鈥

Hall began teaching at HLGU in January 2016 after twenty years in banking, two years as a financial advisor, and eight years in entertainment management. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Wake Forrest University in 1998, and is currently pursuing a doctorate from Liberty University.

The Moorman Foundation, founded in 1942 by Charles and Fabiola Moorman, has long held dear the basic economic, ethical, and legal principles of a free society. They believe that a deeper understanding of these principles will allow for a greater appreciation of the benefits and credibility of a free society and a better-informed and engaged generation of Americans.
