Kleckner, a community-style women鈥檚 dormitory built in 1964, and the L.A. Foster Student Center, built in 1962 are scheduled to receive major face lifts beginning May 8.

鈥淭his is going to be a very busy summer on the HLGU campus as we repair and renovate Kleckner Hall and the student center in order to be ready for the return of our students in the fall semester,鈥 said Betty Anderson, vice president for business and finance.

Renovations for the student center include the addition of a new snack shop that will serve personal pizzas, mozzarella sticks, smoothies, coffee, and more. The name of the new snack shop will be created and voted on by students.

Additional updates to the student center will include lighting, flooring, furniture, and moving the University Bookstore into the building.

HLGU鈥檚 Public Safety Department, currently housed in the student center, will be moving to the University Bookstore location on the first floor of the Burt Administration Building.

Renovations planned for Kleckner include significant updates to the lighting, flooring, lobbies, and community restrooms as well as a complete replacement of the building鈥檚 heating and air conditioning system.

Even though Kleckner has received minor repairs in the past, the institution believes the dorm needs renovating in order to better serve its students.

鈥淚n an ongoing effort to provide quality housing for our students, we created a master plan to remodel and upgrade where needed,鈥 said Dr. Anthony Allen, HLGU President. 鈥淎fter performing some scheduled maintenance, it became clear that more work is needed. This is why we chose to move Kleckner Hall to the top of the list.鈥

Naming opportunities are available for the women鈥檚 hall including 26 $5,000 opportunities for the individual rooms up through a $100,000 opportunity to name the building.

HLGU BOARD OF TRUSTEES SPRING 2017 MEETING /hlgu-board-trustees-spring-2017-meeting/ /hlgu-board-trustees-spring-2017-meeting/#respond Tue, 28 Mar 2017 16:03:44 +0000 http://hlg.frankandmaven.com/?p=3108 番茄社区 University鈥檚 Board of Trustees visited campus for their annual spring meeting Thursday and Friday, March 16 and 17.

One of the highlights of the two-day meeting was a special dedication of the new Sam Lomax Commons in the Lewis and Brown dorm. The ceremony honored Mr. Lomax鈥檚 legacy, a long-time friend and supporter of the University.聽The board recognized Mrs. Judy Harding, a former trustee, for her generous gift to renovate the dorm lobby in his name.聽Judy鈥檚 daughter, Paula, was also on hand for the dedication event.

Friday afternoon, the trustees addressed an important issue for students and voted to renovate Kleckner, a women鈥檚 dorm that was built in 1962. Renovations will be funded by proceeds from a recent land sale and a six-month capital campaign led by the trustees was launched to finance the project.

The trustees also held an appreciation luncheon for the HLGU faculty and staff thanking them for the good work and service that they provide to the Lord and the University.

Additional highlights from the board meetings include the welcoming of six new board members, James (Jim) Arico, Bob Caldwell, Carey Casey, Tyler Foster, Randy Klocke, and Randy Sharpe, the promotion of eight deserving faculty members, work on HLGU鈥檚 long term strategic plan, and more.

鈥淚 am very pleased with what the board accomplished for the University during the spring meeting. We have some wonderful opportunities before us, and I鈥檓 grateful for the vision that the Lord has given us. Together we are strengthening every area of the University鈥檚 work and providing high-quality Christian education that integrates faith and learning,鈥 said Dr. Allen. 鈥淲e have some exciting opportunities before us.聽 Together with the wonderful staff, faculty, and supportive trustees we continue to advance the mission of HLGU.鈥

Glenn Miller, HLGU Board of Trustees Chairman stated, 鈥淎s a board, I am pleased with our progress of becoming more and more engaged with the students, faculty, and staff. The appreciation luncheon was a wonderful event and the board鈥檚 courageous decision to raise enough money to remodel Kleckner is a great step in the right direction. We will continue to engage the campus community to obtain more ‘Knowledge’ for better ‘Service’ to our University!鈥

The next trustees meeting will be held in October 2017. For more information, contact the president鈥檚 office at 573-629-3252.
