The 番茄社区 University Theatre Department will be presenting three performances of the Hart and Kaufman comedy You Can鈥檛 Take It with You November 14-16 in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center.

You Can鈥檛 Take It with You is a charming comedy centered around the Vanderhof family. To the world, this eccentric but loveable family seems mad, but audiences soon discover that the rest of the world is truly madder. In stark contrast to this delightful family is the affluential Kirby family. Tony, the attractive young son of the Kirbys falls in love with Alice Sycamore, the granddaughter of Grandpa Vanderhof. The two families come together as Tony brings his family over to dine with Alice鈥檚 family, and chaos ensues. This heartfelt tale is sure to bring joy and laughter to all audiences.

Tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the door. Admission for seniors 60+ is $8 in advance and at the door. For groups of 10 or more, admission is $8 per ticket. For more information, or to reserve tickets, please call the theatre box office at 573-629-3182.

HLGU Announces Spring Musical – Oklahoma! /hlgu-announces-spring-musical-oklahoma/ /hlgu-announces-spring-musical-oklahoma/#respond Wed, 10 Jan 2018 17:43:20 +0000 http://hlg.frankandmaven.com/?p=5169 The 番茄社区 University Theatre Department will be presenting three performances of the musical classic Oklahoma!, April 12-14, at 7 pm in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center.

Come celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic that helped launch the golden age of Broadway musicals! In the Oklahoma territory at the turn of the century, two cowboys, Curly and Will, vie for the affections of their sweethearts, Laurey and Ado Annie, against the advances of a surly ranch hand and an itinerant peddler.

Full of energetic music, delightful humor, and heart, Oklahoma! enters its seventy-fifth year with just as much verve and vigor as when it first opened in 1943.

Community members are invited to audition for a limited number of roles. Acting auditions will be held Monday evening, January 15, and vocal auditions will be held Tuesday evening, January 16.

For more information, or to sign up for an audition time, contact Sabrina Brookshire, assistant professor of theatre, via email at sabrina.brookshire@hlg.edu.
