Prospero uses magic to conjure a storm and torment the survivors of a shipwreck, including the King of Naples and Prospero鈥檚 treacherous brother, Antonio. Prospero鈥檚 slave, Caliban, plots to rid himself of his master, but is thwarted by Prospero鈥檚 spirit-servant Ariel. The King鈥檚 young son Ferdinand, thought to be dead, falls in love with Prospero鈥檚 daughter Miranda. Their celebrations are cut short when Prospero confronts his brother and reveals his identity as the usurped Duke of Milan. The families are reunited and all conflict is resolved. Prospero grants Ariel his freedom and prepares to leave the island.

Our Town is Thornton Wilder鈥檚 Pulitzer Prize-winning play that debuted in 1938. Performed with minimal scenery and props, the play examines life in the small town of Grover鈥檚 Corners, New Hampshire, zeroing in on two families, the Webbs and the Gibbs. Three acts, spaced a few years apart, follow relationships and changes in the town and its people. Our Town has been performed worldwide.

The 番茄社区 University Theatre Department will be presenting three performances of the Hart and Kaufman comedy You Can鈥檛 Take It with You November 14-16 in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center.

You Can鈥檛 Take It with You is a charming comedy centered around the Vanderhof family. To the world, this eccentric but loveable family seems mad, but audiences soon discover that the rest of the world is truly madder. In stark contrast to this delightful family is the affluential Kirby family. Tony, the attractive young son of the Kirbys falls in love with Alice Sycamore, the granddaughter of Grandpa Vanderhof. The two families come together as Tony brings his family over to dine with Alice鈥檚 family, and chaos ensues. This heartfelt tale is sure to bring joy and laughter to all audiences.

The story tells of newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter who are a textbook case of opposites attract. He鈥檚 straight-laced, and she鈥檚 a free-spirit, but their differences are what makes things exciting, that is, until everything seems to go wrong with their apartment, Corie鈥檚 mother decides to drop in unexpectedly, and Corie鈥檚 new-hatched plans to set up her mother with the elderly neighbor go awry, then suddenly the couple鈥檚 differences loom large. How can Paul hope to understand Corie if he won鈥檛 even run barefoot through the park? Neil Simon鈥檚 warm comedy about the small sacrifices of love has kept audiences in stitches since its debut.

In this beloved musical, arrogant professor Henry Higgins sets out to win a bet that he can pass off cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle as a socialite simply by correcting her speech. The casual bet soon proves to be more than either Higgins or Eliza bargained for; both soon find that they have far more to gain, or lose, than they ever thought.

This classic musical by Lerner and Lowe continues to delight with its wonderful music, warm humor, and story of unexpected love.
