POSITION SUMMARYÌý

The Head Women’s Softball Coach is responsible to the Director of Athletics. The position isÌý full-time and does offer benefits, as specified in the employee handbook. The coach will beÌý responsible for all aspects of establishing and maintaining a quality and competitive softballÌý program while upholding the mission and ideals of ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø University.Ìý

The ideal candidate will possess the qualifications necessary to serve as an instructor,Ìý contributing to the academic mission of the university as a faculty coach. Candidates withÌý academic preparation in Exercise Science, Sports Management, or Physical Education areÌý preferred. Candidates without teaching qualifications may still be considered based on relevantÌý coaching experience, professional background, and overall fit with the department andÌý institution.Ìý

Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony ofÌý Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical, preferably Southern Baptist,Ìý church.Ìý

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÌý

  • All aspects of the softball program related to successful coaching, recruiting and retainingÌý quality student-athletes, budgeting, scheduling, promotions, and fundraising • The coach may be assigned a small teaching load or other responsibilities within theÌý Athletic Department, particularly in areas such as Exercise Science, Sports Management,Ìý or Physical Education, depending on qualifications and institutional needs • Must maintain proper licensure to drive HLGU vehicles on some trips; a CommercialÌý Driver’s License (CDL) is preferredÌý
  • Administrative duties assigned by the Athletic Director
  • Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)Ìý

  • Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Institutional Advancement, Faculty, Business OfficeÌý

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESÌý

  • Must agree to, sign off on, and abide by the standards of employment outlined in theÌý employment application and employee handbookÌý
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills • Ability to effectively engage in both athletic and academic environments as a facultyÌý coach is preferredÌý

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAININGÌý

• Master’s degree and previous coaching/playing experience is preferred • Academic credentials that qualify the candidate to teach at the collegiate level areÌý strongly preferred, particularly in Exercise Science, Sports Management, or PhysicalÌý Education.Ìý
